This is a mini-manifesto I wrote in 2014, before this website existed in it’s current form.
The default path is not for everyone. You don’t need to borrow a bunch of money and go to a university just to learn something. Don’t waste your life stuck in traffic. Being successful doesn’t have to mean spending the next 30 years sitting in a cubicle at some corporate job you hate. You don’t need a bigger house or a new car. Owning more stuff won’t make you happy.
You have more options than you realize. Build an app. Start a startup. Become a pro surfer. Volunteer on an organic farm somewhere far away. Quit your law firm and open a bakery. It’s never too late. Life begins at the end of your comfort zone. So challenge yourself every day and embark on more adventures. Take a trip around the world or across the railroad tracks. See how the other half lives. Share a meal with a stranger. You might make a new friend or meet the love of your life.
Celebrate your wins, learn from your losses, and savor life’s little pleasures. Make time to reflect and be grateful for what you already have. Health is wealth. So are family, friends, and freedom. Wherever you go and whatever you do, remember that the journey is the reward. So be present and take it all in.
